wis.dm

a website I joined a few months ago, based on the exchange of questions and answers about practically anything, the question can be posed in a variety of ways: yes or no, rate this, poll the crowd, how many, have you ever,  which is better, would you rather, or free poll, the more a member participates the more points she/he earns, the website has a really nice, sleek design, though is a little slow to load/acts a little funky at times, it’s free to join, questions are categorized by “scene”: Re: Create (arts & entertainment), The Counter Culture Café (culture), Schooled (education), Eco-Mania (environment), Perks (family), Thrive (health & fitness), Yes And Know (life), Cashet (money), Daily Dispatch (news), The Supposium (opinion), Canvass (politics), Sublime (relationships), Nexus (science & technology), The Bazaar (shopping), Scoreboard (sports), Turnstyle (style), Broadcast You (television), Travelcade (travel), & Wis.dm Town Hall (wis.dm itself), the website was developed in of Massachusetts, U.S.A., but is registered on the web under the country of Dominica for the sake of the url address: http://wis.dm

44th President of the U.S.A.

was inaugurated today in Washington D.C. [U.S.A.], Mr. Barack Obama

W.

I went to see this 2008 movie, directed by Oliver Stone, the night it was released here in the U.S.A., October 17th, it’s a sorta sad, half-hearted comedic take on the life of George W. Bush, & perhaps as such, one that’s out of the realm of being purely political, but ironically in this world, everything’s about politics, & this movie has that soft oberserver friendly feel to it, instead of being a shout that’ll be counter drowned by another shout, it escapes extremes, & perhaps some not-so extremes, seeking out various shallow, arbitrarily “neutral”, grounds for us to explore instead, perhaps it’s aiming at a mainstream chance at getting the general American public more exposed to their current president

Shut Up & Sing

a semi-worthy watch

a 2006 documentary film about the music group, Dixie Chicks, & some of what they went through from late March 2003, when the lead singer, Natalie Maines, told the audience at a concert in Europe that she was ashamed the President of the U.S.A. is from Texas, on until mid-2006

I don’t really have anything against the Dixie Chicks. I have a couple of their albums from before these last few years, & I intend to buy their latest album, Taking The Long Way, sometime. I don’t really listen to a lot of “country” music. I don’t know if the Dixie Chicks are really considered, or really consider themselves, “country” music (at least, any more) but to me, that’s what country (U.S.A.) music is, & their song, Not Ready To Make Nice, is brilliant, intense, & right on.

Canadian Bacon

a semi-worthy watch

a film from 1995, I watched this movie last night, & found some of it terribly ironic in retrospect, considering current events & politics in the USA

a few of my favorite lines from it:

“well I’m not going to start a war just to, just to increase my popularity” (Alan Alda as the President of the USA)

“what about, you know international terrorism?” (Alan Alda as President of the USA) “well, sir we’re  not going to re-open missile factories just to fight some creeps running around and exploding rental cars, are we sir?” (Rip Torn as a General)
