badoo

http://www.badoo.com/

after being a member there for over a year, holding out for any redeeming qualities that might make it worth having, I finally deleted my account, & said bye-bye badoo

this site is great for flirty chat,  photo contests, & not much else, its features are very limiting, though they seem to have recently integrated some web-cam abilities (go figure), & personally I found the overall design & formatting of their pages not very appealing either, it almost seems as if their current homepage manages to look more cheap than their former homepage, which was actually perhaps the first & last thing I liked about badoo, but now it’s gone, & now, so am I, no more weekly private messages with lame pick up lines from men I’m not interested in, which is all badoo ever offered me, in review, I’d say the site isn’t so much about connecting with people as it’s just another chat & picture based online dating site, which is fine, if that’s what you’re looking for, but I wasn’t

canstruction

In its own words: “A foundation of the Society for Design Administration (SDA), Canstruction® is a Trademarked design/build competition currently held in cities throughout North America Australia and cities from around the world will soon be participating . Teams of architects, engineers, and students mentored by these professionals, compete to design and build giant structures made entirely from full cans of food. It takes 8-12 weeks and thousands of cans of food to create a structure.”

“The public is invited to donate canned food at the time of the exhibition. At the close of the exhibitions all of the canned food used in the structures is donated to local food banks for distribution to emergency feeding programs that include pantries, soup kitchens, elderly and day care centers. “

virb

a cool people networking website I’ve had an account at for a few months now, sorta design & music oriented, the page layout are really basic, but can be redone with the aid of a little html & css, I’m using my account there to touch base with any fellow virb users who might know me, or to get to know some new people too, if we share common interests or whatever, one of the groups I’ve joined is one for (Adobe) Illustrator & Photoshop, & I’m using the the 150 pix quota on the virb account I have to post photo experiments with those applications, particularly Adobe Photoshop, & one main thing about peoples’ virb pages is that there’s a lot of inter-linking thanks to frequently featuring the use of tags within the network, the music I listen to, the books I read, the movies I watch all become tags that’ll reveal others with the same interests, once clicked, & the usage of tags also extends to photos, one’s personal blog on the site, etc.
